I enjoy swimming, going to the gym, running, and taking my dog for long countryside walks (particularly if there happens to be a pub at the end of it). My husband and I are also in a distinctly mediocre acoustic covers band, and we gig fairly regularly around Wiltshire and Hampshire. I would say ‘practising’ is a way we relax, except we don’t really do that. More, we just keep our setlist exactly the same for years at a time so that we don’t have to learn new songs.

Hard work! They’d hopefully say I was fun, caring and vaguely good company, at least for limited periods of time. They’d also, likely, describe me as teetering on the brink between being ‘spontaneous’ and ‘chaotic’. I’m also very handy if you have a bottle of wine which requires sharing.

Feels remiss to have only mentioned salt and vinegar crisps once. I’d also have to give my husband a shout-out at this point too. I really do mean this, by the way, I’d probably live in a house that was falling apart, with a neglected garden, a lawless child, a broken-down car in the driveway and would likely solely survive on black coffee and salt and vinegar crisps (strike three). There would be jars gathering dust in the cupboards, unopened, a bit like a scene from 28 Days Later.

It’s such a cliché, but the people. You spend two thirds of your life at work, and who you are surrounded by during this time is so important. We have truly fantastic and talented people working with us across our journalism, sales, marketing, production, audience development and events teams. I also find the flexibility I’m offered at MAG a real lifesaver – it would be virtually impossible to juggle the commute, travelling for events, and home life without it.

Look them in the eye, and don’t wobble. Also, nobody likes a smart a*se.
